And don't forget that we're having a little shindig in celebration of the album release tonight at Heathers in the East Village. Details here!
Thank you all for your support - hope you enjoy the record.
Welcome to our redesigned website. We figured an occasion like the release of our album next week warranted a complete overhaul of the site, so we hope you enjoy the new design and content. Explore it. Love it. Rub yourself on it. We won't judge.
We're excited to debut the cover art to our upcoming debut album, which will be available everywhere on Tuesday, June 19th. We've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this album and can't wait 'til you all get to hear it.
You're not ready...
This weekend is our first out of state gig, and we're excited to be taking the stage in Atlantic City as part of the Elephants for Autism Music Festival. It's a great cause, and there will be a lot of great bands. Off The Turnpike takes the stage at The Boneyard at 11:15pm on Saturday, May 19th. Hope to see you there.
So apparently we weren't the only ones who thought Saturday night's show was killer. We're on to the finals of the Upper East Side Music Festival / Battle of the Bands!
We'll be returning to Bar East on Thursday, April 26th. And we'll be kicking ass.
This coming Saturday our first show in Manhattan proper in a few months. And it's a DOOZY. We're participating in the Upper East Side Music Festival, a giant, multi-day battle of the bands held at Bar East.
OFF THE TURNPIKE TAKES THE STAGE AT 8:30pm! $10 cover.
But wait... what's that you say? March 17th is St. Patrick's Day? Well... clearly we'll need to do something about that. We'll be hosting a bar crawl prior to the show. This is the plan:
6:30: The Gaf
8:00: Bar East
And once at Bar East, you can settle in for an epic set by Off The Turnpike. Knowing the band, and our fans, the bar crawl will continue long after the set is done.
Happy New Year from all of us in Off The Turnpike!! We want to say thank you for your support, and we look forward to making 2012 bigger and badder!
And in the interest of making this year even more intense, we've got TWO epic gigs lined up for January! First up, we're playing our first ever gig outside of New York City. This Saturday, January 7th, Amityville, Long Island will be hosting NUTUYU TU, a festival dedicated to exposing the masses to the new voices in the rock scene. We'll be sharing a packed bill with Revel 9, Finespun, The Paraphernalia and many more! We go on at Midnight, so it's sure to be a unique and memorable set.
Then, we'll be returning to the site of November's memorable "unplugged" performance at the Walt-Astoria on Saturday, January 14th. Don't miss out on the "second movement"...
Head on over to our tour listing for more information. Hope to see you at the shows!
Presented without further comment. Enjoy.
We're returning to the site of our first gig, and playing the coveted happy hour slot at Trash Bar in Williamsburg. On Tuesday, December 20th at 8:00pm, a $7 cover gets you all you can drink PBR and Well Drinks, as well as a set by us. We dare you to come up with something better to do on a Tuesday night. RSVP on Facebook!
Tomorrow night at 8:00pm, we will be playing a stripped down, extended set at the Waltz-Astoria in (duh) Astoria, Queens. This is our first home-neighborhood gig, so we've been working hard to put together a real unique and memorable set. You're not going to want to miss out on this.
Also, don't forget that we'll be playing the NYC Alternarock Festival on Saturday November 19th at Local 269. That show is going to be BIG. But for now, lets focus on the small... and all the exciting stuff we have planned for tomorrow.
Hope to see you all there!
Hope to see you all at Connolly's Pub Klub 45 tonight! We go on at 8:00 sharp.
More details here.
Here's a double dose of ottpkTV for you fine folks. Episode 3 is a continuation of the insanity of recording our demo - and what happens when Steve goes off the deep end. And Episode 4 is a look at Andy's appearance on "Whatever with Jennifer Hutt" on SiriusXM. That one is a real doozy. And a real head scratcher.
But enough talking. Here are the videos.
And don't forget! We have a show tomorrow! Hope to see you there.
We've got one show scheduled for October, and that will be on Friday October 21st and 8:00 pm at Connolly's Pub Klub 45 in Midtown Manhattan. For more information and to RSVP, check out our Facebook invite - and invite your friends. It's going to be a guaranteed good time!
Looking forward to November, we'll be playing two VERY different shows. Our first will be an intimate semi-accoustic gig at Waltz-Astoria on Saturday November 5th. We can guarantee that this will be unlike any Off The Turnpike show you go to this year.
After that, we're proud announce that we'll be a part of the New York City Alternarock Festival held at Local 269. We'll be playing on the final night of the Festival, Saturday November 19th. We can only assume we're playing the last night because they know very few bands can follow us.
So mark your calendars, and be sure to check back for more information on these shows and much, much more in the coming weeks.
See you at the shows!
Better late than never.
Click below and enjoy this video of us performing "Rampage" at the Alphabet Lounge. It's a nice and heavy way to enjoy you Sunday afternoon.
Get to know the members of Off The Turnpike a little better in this first in a series of hopefully entertaining behind the scenes videos. We had a lot of fun making this (as evidenced by the almost constant giggling by all of us), and we've got a lot more cool stuff coming up. Stay tuned, and enjoy!
We're heading into the studio this Sunday to record our demo at Fenix Studios on Staten Island.
We'll be posting the occasional update, so be sure to follow us on twitter @offtheturnpike for the latest.
Thanks to everyone who came out last week for our first official show at the Alphabet Lounge. The night was a huge success, and that was all thanks to all of you who came out.
There are pictures from the gig up on our Facebook page, as well as on the photo page here on the site.
And if you're still kicking yourself for missing the show, worry not! Your friends in Off The Turnpike have you covered. We're playing a show at Connolly's Klub 45 on October 21st. Stay tuned for more details on that, and some other exciting gig news in the very near future!
As we gear up for our "first" show tomorrow night at Alphabet Lounge, we wanted to point you in the direction of some photos from our impromptu gig last week at The Trash Bar. They're up on our Facebook page, so click here to check them out.
(And a HUGE thanks to our friends in nevereven for setting us up with that show. It was an absolute blast, and we could ask for a better band to play with. So check them out!)
We'll be beefing up this site with some photos in the coming days, but this is the internet, you're not supposed to have to wait for stuff.
And we'll see you TOMORROW at the Alphabet Lounge!
After something of a false start, we wanted to take our time with this one... but we really couldn't wait any longer. We'd like to introduce the last piece of the puzzle, vocalist ANDY SEXTON!
Off The Turnpike is shifting into high gear, and you'll be hearing a lot from us in the coming weeks. But you're not here to hear about vague upcoming plans... you're hear to hear some awesome tunes! So without further ado, an early "leak" of our song "Uncertainty" that we recorded at practice last week.
While we continue to look high and low for the perfect singer to complete our merry band, we've been getting a little antsy about getting out and playing some music for people.
So, next Thursday (June 16th), Christian and Shawn are sneaking out of the studio to play an instrumental set at Waltz-Astoria as part of their Songs Without Words series. The show starts at 8:00, and we'd love to see you there!
For more information, and to RSVP, check out our Facebook invite.
When we went public last month, we were all remarkably excited to get the ball rolling on playing shows, recording some tracks, and all the other general coolness that comes with a new band. The four of us had been playing together for months, and a had a full set ready to go.
But that was then. Things have a way of never going quite as planned.
Shortly after launching this site, we parted ways with singer, Eddie Slate. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors, and know that everyone will be hearing great things from him. He's an immense talent with a driving passion that will guarantee him nothing but success.
But as for the rest of us, we're pressing forward, actively searching for a new member of the Off The Turnpike family. And when we find him (or her!), you'll be hearing a lot from us. Maybe a bit too much. But it will all be good news, accompanied by even better music.
We can't wait to get our music out to everyone, so while we make plans to get our songs on tape (or... not tape as it tends to be these days), we've put up a video of us playing our song Sway at our rehearsal space. This is one of our favorite songs to play, and we can't wait to get it out in front of crowds real soon!
EDIT: VIDEO REMOVED PENDING NEW SINGER, NEW AWESOMENESS
Welcome to our website. We're Off The Turnpike, a New York based rock band. We don't have much to report at the moment, but since you're here you might as well poke around the site a bit. There have been rumors of at least one video of us playing one of our songs. The site is pretty bare right now, but we're a brand new outfit, so keep checking back for news, and info about our first show. Oh, and music. Music is important.
